The bride to be would actually glitter on a sunny day. The dress with flowing sleeves or perhaps a train was a symbol of status, for the poor had to use material as sparingly as possible. Factory-made materials, using their lower costs, caused the lost of the original meaning of the train of the wedding gown, but it was a tradition over time.
